'BJP Will Be Removed From...': Mamata Banerjee's Fresh Attack On Centre After Bengal Poll Debacle

West Bengal: Days after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered a major setback in the West Bengal Assembly elections, party chief and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government.

'BJP Will Be Removed From Power In Delhi': Mamata Banerjee

According to news agency ANI, during a meeting with party MLAs at her Kalighat residence, the TMC supremo said, "The BJP will be removed from power in Delhi in the coming days."

This comes after the BJP secured a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, winning 207 seats and ending the TMC's 15-year rule. The Trinamool Congress managed to win only 80 seats.

'Fight Will Continue Against The BJP': Abhishek Banerjee

Abhishek Banerjee, TMC general secretary who was also present at the meeting, adopted an aggressive stance, stating that the party's fight against the BJP will continue despite the electoral defeat.

"Let them do whatever they want...raze down my home, send notice ... I won't bow down over these things. Come what may, my fight will continue against the BJP," he said.

He also took a swipe at the newly appointed Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, stating, "Our state has had many chief ministers, but none like the current one. The one who was seen taking money on camera has been made CM."

TMC Moves Calcutta HC Over Incidents Of Post-Poll Violence

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court regarding alleged incidents of post-poll violence that erupted across West Bengal after the election results were announced. The petition alleges incidents of attacks, arson, and vandalism targeting TMC workers and party offices across various parts of the state.

Mamata Banerjee appeared before Chief Justice Sujoy Paul in lawyer's robes on May 14. The petition sought immediate protection for the affected activists and a court-monitored, impartial investigation into the unrest.

According to the report, clashes were reported from Kolkata, Howrah, and several other districts, with both parties blaming each other.
