Bengaluru News: A 20-year-old student from Dakshina Kannada district was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a Bengaluru lodge room on Friday night, leading to a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to a report by the Deccan Herald, the deceased, identified as P. Thakshith from Puttur, checked into a budget lodge in Maruthi Nagar, South Bengaluru, on October 9, accompanied by a female friend from Virajpet in Kodagu. They stayed together at the lodge for over a week.

According to the staff, the woman checked out alone from the lodge in Maruthi Nagar, South Bengaluru, on the evening of October 17. Hours later, when staff entered the room for inspection, they found 20-year-old Thakshith lying under a blanket, appearing as though he was asleep. Later, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Madiwala police were immediately informed and have initiated an investigation. Staff members revealed that the couple had claimed to be in Bengaluru for academic purposes, stating they were enrolled in a Mangaluru college. They reportedly paid their rent on a daily basis and preferred to mind their business.
According to the officer handling the case, the student and his friend were ordering food from outside. During their stay, they reportedly suffered from food poisoning and purchased over-the-counter medication from a nearby pharmacy to alleviate their symptoms.

The police officer said that the death appears to be a natural one, but they were waiting for the post-mortem report.
