Haryana Assembly Election 224 results were declared on Tuesday. While the exit polls predicted a win for Congress, the results turned out to be something else, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing 48 seats, registering a victory. Following the results, BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday blamed the "casteist" mindset of the Jat community of the state for the adverse results. She also advised them to change their mentality.
Mayawati's party, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), contested the Haryana Assembly Election 2024 in alliance with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), the regional party. INLD could secure only two seats in the state. The BSP pocketed 1.82 per cent vote share while its ally INLD got 4.14 per cent, the data analysis on the EC website showed.
Mayawati, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, on Tuesday night took to social media platform X and said, "The BSP and the INLD fought the Haryana assembly general election in alliance. But today's result shows that the casteist people of the Jat community did not vote for the BSP, due to which the party candidates lost some seats by a small margin of votes, although the BSP's entire vote was transferred."

"The people of the Jat community of UP have changed their casteist mentality to a great extent and they have become MLAs from the BSP and ministers in the government. The people of the Jat community of Haryana should also follow their footsteps and change their casteist mentality. This is a special advice," she added.
She further asked the BSP candidates not to be disappointed and assured them that their hard work would not go in vain.
The BJP, meanwhile, made a comeback, being the first party to secure a third term. PM Modi addressed party workers in Delhi after BJP victory in Haryana polls, PM Modi alleged that Congress has tried to mislead the people of the country. He also took a jibe at Congress over its complaint and subsequent letter to the Election Commission regarding “slowdown in updating results” of assembly polls in Haryana and alleged that the opposition party wants to tarnish every institution.
