In celebration of Gita Jayanti, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) organised a National Seminar on 'The Bhagavad Gita: Classical Yogic Wisdom for Self-Management', bringing together eminent scholars, academicians, and Yoga experts to explore the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-Gita and its contemporary relevance.
Prof. Girishwar Misra, Former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), Wardha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Highlighting the importance of the Bhagavad-Gita, he stated, "I find a strong connection between Yoga and the Bhagavad-Gita. This sacred text aids in realising one’s true self, achieving excellence in work, and becoming the best version of oneself. Sri Krishna inspires us to restrain the mind and attain the state of Gunatita (transcending Satva, Raja, and Tama) through the practice of Abhyasa and Vairagya."
Prof. (Dr.) Kashinath Samagandi, Director, MDNIY, presided over the seminar, setting the tone for the academic deliberations. Referring to empowerment through the Bhagavad-Gita, Prof. (Dr.) Samagandi stated, "Commentaries on the Bhagavad-Gita can be studied to gain knowledge and understand different perspectives. It teaches us that change is permanent. Therefore, one should focus on Karma and enjoy the journey of life.”
Sh K. Shiva Prasad, Retired IAS Officer and Director, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, underlined the practical application of the Gita’s teachings in daily life. He said, "Studying the Bhagavad-Gita plays a vital role in mastering the management of the mind. It helps change one’s perspective towards life situations and in assessing the state of mind to keep a check on the ego."
