Gita Jayanti 2025 marks the sacred occasion when Lord Krishna preached the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna to free him from attachment and despair. This year, Gita Jayanti will be observed on 1st December 2025. This scripture guides people toward what is right and offers strength when life gets tough. The Gita tells us that we have a right to act, but not to expect certain results. It explains that doing our duty no matter what is true yoga. Its wisdom lets us get over fear, doubt, and sadness so we can face problems confidently and calmly.

1. Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadacana | ma karmaphalaheturbhurma te sangostvakarmani ॥ (Chapter 2, Verse 47)
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन | मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥ (अध्याय 2, श्लोक 47)

Meaning: Your right is only to perform an action, never to its fruits. Therefore, do not become the cause of the results of your actions, nor should you be attached to not performing them.

Inspiration: This verse tells us to focus only on our efforts and the current task, not on the result. In moments of deep despair, it gives us the strength to abandon inaction and simply take the next step.

2. Yogastha: Kuru Karmani Sangam Tyktva Dhananjay. Siddhyasiddhyo: Samo Bhootva Samatvam Yoga Uchyate. (Chapter 2, Verse 48)
योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय । सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥ (अध्याय 2, श्लोक 48)

Meaning: Arjuna, perform your duty without attachment, treating success and failure with equanimity. This balanced state is yoga.

Inspiration: This verse suggests maintaining composure regardless of outcomes. When facing defeat, it encourages calm and balance, reflecting true Karmayoga.

3. Niyatam Kuru Karma Tvam Karma Jyayo Hykarmanah. शरिरियात्रापी च ते न प्रशास्यद्येदकर्मनः ॥ (Chapter 3, Verse 8)
नियतं कुरु कर्म त्वं कर्म ज्यायो ह्यकर्मणः । शरीरयात्रापि च ते न प्रसिद्ध्येदकर्मणः ॥ (अध्याय 3, श्लोक 8)

Meaning: It is better to do the work you're meant to do than to remain idle. If you do not work, it will be hard to take care of your basic needs

Inspiration: Despair can lead to inaction, but this passage suggests that taking action, no matter how small, is vital for maintaining life.

4. Nainam Chhindanti Shastrani Nainam Dahati Pavakah. Neither chainam kledayantyapo nor shoshayati marutah. (Chapter 2, Verse 23)
नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः । न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः ॥ (अध्याय 2, श्लोक 23)

Meaning: The soul cannot be cut by weapons, nor can fire burn it, nor can water wet it, nor can air dry it.

Inspiration: This verse addresses worries about bodily harm or mortality. It serves as a reminder that the soul is unchanging, encouraging courage when confronting hard times.

5. Jaatasya hi dhruvo mrutyurdhruvam janma mritasya cha. tasmadparihaarye'arthe na tvam shochitumarhasi ॥ (Chapter 2, Verse 27)
जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च । तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥ (अध्याय 2, श्लोक 27)

Meaning: Death is certain for one who is born, and rebirth is certain for one who dies. Therefore, you should not grieve over that which is inevitable.

Inspiration: This verse addresses the pain of losing someone we love. It explains that birth and death are a cycle. Understanding this can give us strength to accept loss and keep living our lives.

6. Yada hi nendriyartheshu na karmasvanushjjate. Sarvasankalpasnyasi yogaarudhastadochyate ॥ (Chapter 6, Verse 4)
यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते । सर्वसङ्कल्पसंन्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्यते ॥ (अध्याय 6, श्लोक 4)

Meaning: When a person is neither attached to sense pleasures nor to actions, and has renounced all desires, he is called yogaarudha (established in yoga).

Inspiration: This explains that true peace comes from renouncing desires and attachments. It inspires us to calm a restless mind and achieve inner stability.

7. Uttamechchhaatmanam naatmanamvasadayet. Atmaiva hyātmano bandhurātmaiva ripuratmanah ॥ (Chapter 6, Verse 5)
उत्तमेच्छात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् । आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥ (अध्याय 6, श्लोक 5)

Meaning: Man must elevate himself, not lower himself. For this mind is his friend and this mind is his enemy.

Inspiration: In times of deep distress, this verse is the key to overcoming self-pity. It teaches that both our inspiration and our destruction depend on our own mind; we must become our own best friend.

8. Sarvdharmaan parityajya mamekam sharanam vraj. Aham twa sarvapapaybhyo mokshayishyami ma shuchah ॥ (Chapter 18, Verse 66)
सर्वधर्मान् परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज । अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः ॥ (अध्याय 18, श्लोक 66)

Meaning: Leaving aside all dharmas (duties), come to me only for refuge. I will free you from all sins, do not grieve.

Inspiration: This is called Mahavakya of Geeta. When everything is going wrong and there is no way out, this verse assures complete self-surrender and being worry-free. It provides deep faith and peace.

9. Na Hi Kalyankrit Kashchid Durgatim Tat Gachchati ॥ (Chapter 6, Verse 40)
न हि कल्याणकृत् कश्चिद् दुर्गतिं तात गच्छति ॥ (अध्याय 6, श्लोक 40)

Meaning: Oh Tat (beloved), no one doing auspicious or good work ever attains Durgati (evil state).

Inspiration: When we feel that our good efforts are going in vain, this verse reassures us that the results of righteous deeds are always auspicious, even if they are not immediately visible.

10. Ananyaashchintayanto maam ye janah paryupaasate. Teshaam nityabhiyuktaanaam yogakshemam vahamyaham ॥ (Chapter 9, Verse 22)
अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते । तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम् ॥ (अध्याय 9, श्लोक 22)

Meaning: I myself take care of the well-being (fulfilment of needs and protection) of those devotees who worship me with exclusive devotion, thinking of me.

Inspiration: This verse provides deep solace in times of financial or personal insecurity. It explains that God himself takes care of (the well-being and protection) of those who sincerely trust in Him.

11. Shraddhavallabhate gyanam tatparah sanyatendriyah. Gyanam Labdhwa Para Shantimchirenadhigachchhati ॥ (Chapter 4, Verse 39)
श्रद्धावाँल्लभते ज्ञानं तत्परः संयतेन्द्रियः । ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा परां शान्तिमचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥ (अध्याय 4, श्लोक 39)

Meaning: A person who has faith, is alert and who has controlled his senses, such a person attains knowledge, and after attaining knowledge he soon attains supreme peace.

Motivation: Motivates for learning and self-improvement. It teaches that faith (faith), diligence (effort) and self-control are necessary for the attainment of knowledge, and this is the path to peace.

12. Tasmatvamuttishtha Yasho Labhasva Jitva Shatusrun Bhunkshva Rajyaam Samridham. (Chapter 11, Verse 33)
तस्मात्त्वमुत्तिष्ठ यशो लभस्व जित्वा शत्रून् भुङ्क्ष्व राज्यं समृद्धम् ॥ (अध्याय 11, श्लोक 33)

Meaning: So you get up! Gain fame, conquer enemies and enjoy a prosperous kingdom.

Inspiration: This is a direct command. In moments of lethargy and uncertainty, this verse fills us with energy, purpose, and a sense of victory.
