Police have made several revelations in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case after several accused, including his wife and her lover, were arrested in the case. Sonam allegedly plotted the murder of her husband while they were on their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
As per Meghalaya Police, cited by Hindustan Times, Sonam lured the assailants, promising them a sum of Rs 15 lakh for killing Raja. She allegedly paid Rs 15000 to them from Raja’s wallet during the murder.

As per police, Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s lover, claimed that he was not in favour of Raja’s murder and had even cancelled his trip to Meghalaya. Raj said even the three hitmen, who were hired, did not want to travel to Meghalaya but went there as Sonam had already booked their tickets. He said that the trio refused to kill Raja, and it wasn’t until Sonam promised them Rs 15 lakh that they committed the crime, the aforementioned media outlet reported citing the Meghalaya Police.
The three accused returned to Indore by train after killing Raja. Sonam came to Varanasi from Meghalaya by bus and then she took another bus to Ghazipur from there.
All the accused, including Sonam and her lover Raj, are currently in police custody and have been taken to Shillong for further investigation. Police have obtained their seven-day transit remand and all accused have been kept in Shillong Sadar Police Station.
Raja Raghuvanshi (29) was found dead on June 2 in a deep gorge. His body was located with the help of a drone. Cops also recovered his mobile phone and a machete, believed to have been used in the crime.
