Chennai Metro News: Direct metro train service along the Green Line between the stations at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central and Chennai International Airport was momentarily interrupted for 30 minutes on Sunday noon due to a technical issue.
The CMRL reported on its X handle that the issue had been resolved quickly and that the service was back to normal.
"The technical glitch has been rectified. Metro Train services in Blue Line and Green Line have resumed normal operations (sic)," the CMRL stated, apologising for the inconvenience caused.
It had previously tweeted about a minor (2–5 minute) delay in Metro train service on the Green and Blue Lines.
On the other hand, Metro train services from Central to St Thomas Mount and Wimco Nagar Depot to the Airport ran on time throughout the stoppage.
Meanwhile, as soon as the Railway Board (the ministry of railways) approves the CMRL-MRTS merger, the MRTS stations at Thiruvallikeni, Thirumayilai, and Thiruvanmiyur may receive upgrades comparable to those on the metro rail network. Due to their proximity to phase-2 metro stations under development, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) intends to develop the land in the three stations first.
While Thirumayilai and Thiruvanmiyur MRTS stations would be connected with phase-2 underground metro stations under development at the sites, Thiruvallikeni MRTS is located within walking distance of Marina Beach's Lighthouse metro station, according to a CMRL official.
