The global Microsoft outage has disrupted multiple sectors today and it may create massive issues if it is not resolved soon. The major disruption in Microsoft’s cloud services has also impacted flight operations across the world, including India. The outage has affected several airlines at the Mumbai and Delhi airports. 

Amid the global outage, a senior official of the Ministry of Civil Aviation said, "We are keeping watch over the situation unfolding and analyzing the number of airports impacted due to the technical glitch that has majorly affected airline systems."

Reacting to the global outage that affected airlines, markets and various sectors, Electronics & Information Technology Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "MEITY is in touch with Microsoft and its associates regarding the global outage. The reason for this outage has been identified and updates have been released to resolve the issue. CERT is issuing a technical advisory. NIC network is not affected."

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Spicejet wrote, “We're currently facing a technical issue in providing updates on flight disruptions. Our team is actively working to resolve this issue. We regret for any inconvenience caused and will update you once the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience and co-operation.”

“Digital infrastructure issues have temporarily impacted online and airport operations across multiple airlines and airports globally. Please plan your travel and keep sufficient time in hand for airport procedures. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,” Air India Express wrote.

IndiGo airlines also took to X to inform that the Microsoft outage has impacted the booking, and check-in process. "Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted,” the airlines wrote. 

Following the technical glitch, visuals from Goa Airport also surfaced online, showing passengers stranded and waiting in the terminal.

Global Microsoft users, including broadcasters, markets, and banks have reported widespread outages on Friday. This came after the company declared that it would be taking care of a problem that was preventing users from accessing Microsoft 365 services and apps gradually.

Taking to X, Delhi Airport wrote, “Due to the global IT issue, some of the services at the Delhi Airport were temporarily impacted. We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimise the inconvenience to our flyers.”
