In a deeply disturbing incident that has left an entire village in mourning, a two-month-old baby boy lost his life after being snatched by monkeys from his home and dumped into a water-filled drum.

The horrifying episode unfolded in Surajpur village, located under the Makhrehta police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, on Thursday. The baby was lying asleep on a cot in the verandah of his house while his family members were busy with daily chores when tragedy struck.

According to media reports, a group of monkeys entered the house unnoticed, took the infant from the cot, and placed him inside a drum filled with water that was kept on the rooftop. News18 reported the terrifying sequence, which only came to light when the family noticed the baby was missing. Panic set in immediately, and a frantic search of the house and nearby areas began.

After a desperate search, the family discovered the child in the water drum on the roof. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The loss has left the family heartbroken, particularly as the baby was their first child.

The entire village is reeling from the shock of the incident. Locals say this isn’t an isolated problem monkey attacks have been a persistent issue in the area for years. Villagers are now demanding urgent measures to control the growing monkey menace and ensure such heart-wrenching incidents are not repeated.
