Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and storms across India. On Sunday, heavy rain and winds of up to 80-90 kilometre per hour are expected in 23 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

According to the Meteorological Department, lightning, strong winds, and even hailstorms are expected in several states. Strong winds in northeastern states are likely to uproot trees and cause property damage. Travelers in hilly states are advised to remain vigilant.

IMD Issues Alert For 23 States

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain alert has been issued in 23 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

During this period, winds will blow at speeds of 80 to 90 kilometre per hour. People have been warned to be cautious of lightning along with the rain. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 35 districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Weather In Himachal Pradesh, Jammu And Kashmir And Uttarakhand

IMD has issued a warning today of major weather changes in the major hilly states of North India including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.

Landslide Warning Issued In Mountains

Due to the effect of active western disturbance, there is a strong possibility of strong storm, lightning and torrential rain in most parts of these three states today.

In view of the seriousness of the situation, the Meteorological Department has also issued a special alert in many districts, under which destructive winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometre per hour in both plain and hilly areas.

Hailstorms In Mountains

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hailstorms are expected in remote high-altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh today, leading to a sudden drop in temperatures and increasing cold. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for major tourist and horticultural areas of Himachal Pradesh, such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Sirmaur.
