As Madhya Pradesh awaits the formation of a new Cabinet, BJP on Sunday held a meeting at the residence of party's national president JP Nadda in Delhi. MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Vishnudutt Sharma and general secretary Hitanand reached Delhi with a list of proposed names for Cabinet roles. In the late night meeting, which lasted for two hours, BJP leaders reportedly reached a consensus on 15 to 18 names proposed for the new Madhya Pradesh Cabinet.

The Mohan Yadav Cabinet, which is expected to feature new and young faces, could comprise upto 18 ministers, according to sources cited by Dainik Jagran. Further, it is expected that the cabinet may be formed in two phases. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Prahlad Patel, Narendra Singh Tomar, Kailash Vijayvargiya were among those present at the meeting. Shah will take the final decision on the inclusion of first-time MLAs.

The Cabinet will be formed keeping the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in mind. It was also discussed in the meeting that 29 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state should get representation. The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet may see representation based on Parliamentary constituency along with an attempt to balance gender, caste and regional equations.

First-time MLAs could also be given a place in the Cabinet while also using the experience of the senior ones. The saffron party will also keep participation of women in mind while forming the Mohan Yadav Cabinet.

BJP won the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, held in November this year, by an overwhelming majority of 163 seats. 10 days after the election results were announced on December 3, BJP formed the new government in Madhya Pradesh as newly elected MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his deputies Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla took oath of office on December 13.
