MP News: A major political controversy sparked in Madhya Pradesh after state minister Vijay Shah echoed Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya's remarks on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's bond with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. While speaking at an event in Khandwa, Shah claimed that our culture does not teach public displays of affection between the siblings, adding that such practices should not be promoted in the public spaces. Earlier in May, Shah was heavily criticised due to his controversial remark about Colonel Sophia Qureshi after Operation Sindoor.

"This is not our culture; our civilization, customs, and traditions do not teach this. Whatever they teach, practice it in your own homes, not at public places," Shah stated. He also pointed towards MLA Kanchan Tanve and asked whether the Indian culture will allow him to kiss her in public. "She is also my real sister, so would I kiss her in public? Indian culture and civilization do not teach this," he added.

Earlier on Thursday, a massive controversy sparked after Vijayvargiya stated that kissing a younger sister in public was a "lack of values". "We are people of an old culture. In our sisters' village, we don't even drink the water. In Jirapur, where my aunt lived, my father would carry a pot of water from home. Our opposition leaders today are such that they kiss their young sisters in the middle of a crossroads," Vijayvargiya stated.

"I want to ask you, who among you kisses your young sisters or daughters in public? This is a lack of values. These are foreign values, brought up abroad. They even speak rudely to the Prime Minister," he added. While reacting to his remarks, Congress state chief Jitu Patwari stated that the BJP minister chose Navratri to insult the bond between a brother and sister, further demanding an apology and resignation from the minister.
