In a horrific incident, a person in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara killed eight members of his family before dying by suicide, Jagran.com reported. The incident took place in the tribal-dominated Bodal Kachar Village under the Mahuljhir police station. As per reports, the headman of the family axed over eight members of his family before ending his own life by hanging himself at his house.   

The reason for the murders is yet to be ascertained. Mahuljhir police have reached the crime scene and a probe has been launched.  

The deceased include the accused's wife and family members. The accused also attacked a child of his brother, but he escaped and informed the police. According to reports, all the people lived in nearby houses. The young man had recently got married. 

The accused first attacked his wife with an axe. After that, he killed his mother, sister, brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and nieces. SP Manish Khatri stated that the accused got married on May 21. The accused is mentally unstable. He stated that an axe was recovered from the scene of the incident.

According to the police, the accused was mentally unstable. It is also being investigated whether or not he was a drug addict. The incident is said to have occurred at 3 am. It is reported that the accused had a dispute with his wife and he took the extreme step in a fit of rage. After the crime, the bodies of the deceased were found scattered in the house. The police have arrived at the scene and are sending the bodies for post-mortem.
