Jagran Correspondent, Indore: In a major update for the residents of Indore, the officials stated that twenty-six electric buses will soon operate on six routes. While providing details, they stated that the initiative will significantly boost the regional connectivity, adding that these buses will be included in the new bus service starting in July. This initiative will not only provide safe and comfortable travel to passengers but will also strengthen the green and smart transport system in the city.
The state government is starting the operation of buses under the Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Seva from Indore in July. While providing details, the officials stated that the government plans to operate 26 buses with 12-metre electric engines in the first phase. They further stated that tenders have been invited for the project until June 22, adding that the operators with three years of bus operation experience can participate.
Apart from this, the operator must have a turnover of over Rs 10 crore to participate in the process. The officials stated that the buses will be equipped with GPS-based Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTDs). This system will be connected to a central command and control center, allowing real-time monitoring of the buses' location and operations.
They further stated that the buses will also be equipped with panic buttons, adding that two CCTV cameras will record the entire passenger area and the driver's cabin. Apart from this, a seven-inch display screen will also be installed in the driver's cabin to monitor rear-end activities.
provision of fines on operators:
- Fine of Rs 1,000 for not tracking the bus
- Rs 500 per day fine for not operating on time
- Rs 15,000 fine and legal responsibility for the first accident
- Rs 1,000 per bus per day will be imposed if the bus is not available
- Rs 1,000 fine per day for non-availability of electric charging
- Rs 500 fine if the driver is found without a driving licence
- If there are more than two complaints per 1,000 trips, a fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for each additional complaint.
