The Karnataka unit of Congress has decided to hold a statewide protest on Monday against Governor Thawarchand Gehlot's approval to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam, news agency PTI reported. On Saturday, Gehlot had granted permission to prosecute Siddaramaiah. The Chief Minister has denied the allegations and stated that he will fight them legally.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President DK Shivakumar on Sunday said that rallies will be organized in all district headquarters across the state and all party leaders, and workers will participate in these protests.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party on August 22. According to sources, cited by PTI, the Chief Minister will inform Congress MLAs about the facts and prepare a strategy to fight the case both legally and politically. Karnataka's IT Minister Priyank Kharge told reporters that, given the controversy surrounding the Governor's role, it is necessary to brief their members about the matter.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will file a petition in the High Court on Monday, challenging the Governor's decision to allow prosecution against him in the MUDA scam. Sources revealed that senior Supreme Court lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal will arrive in Bengaluru on Monday to file the petition on Siddaramaiah's behalf, contesting Governor Thawarchand Gehlot's order.

Meanwhile, the BJP is also set to hit the streets in Karnataka over the alleged corruption. Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, announced that BJP legislators will stage a protest in front of the Gandhi statue at the Vidhana Soudha, demanding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation. The JD(S) has also pledged support to its ally's protest against the chief minister.
