Mukhtar Ansari Death News: Umar Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari who died of cardiac arrest, claimed that his father was given poison in the food and said the family would move to the judiciary. "We have full faith in it," he added. Jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died at a hospital in Banda in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

"I was not told anything from the administration side, I came to know about it through the media... But now the whole nation knows everything... Two days ago I came to meet him, but I was not allowed... We said earlier also and even today we will say the same about the allegation of giving slow poison. On March 19, he was poisoned in the dinner. We will move to the judiciary, we have full faith in it..." news agency ANI quoted Umar Ansari as saying.

Earlier, Ansari's brother and Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari had also alleged that he was being subjected to "slow poisoning" in jail. However, the charges were denied by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the body of Mukhtar Ansari has been sent for post-mortem at Banda Medical College Hospital in Banda. A three-member committee will look into the gangster's death. Two medical professionals will perform the post-mortem, which will be videographed. The body will be handed over to Umar Ansari after the post-mortem is over.

About Mukhtar Ansari

The 63-year-old Ansari was a five-time MLA from Mau Sadar. He had been behind bars in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab since 2005. More than 60 criminal cases were pending against him. He was imprisoned in the Banda jail after receiving sentences in eight cases from various Uttar Pradesh courts beginning in September 2022. His name was on the list of 66 gangsters issued by Uttar Pradesh Police last year.

Ansari was chosen five times to serve as an MLA for the Mau assembly constituency, and twice as a candidate for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He was a powerful figure in Ghazipur. In 2023, Mukhtar Ansari was found guilty of killing BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai and given 10 years imprisonment.
