Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: India's aspirational bullet train project achieved a breakthrough in the construction of the first mountain tunnel of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. This 1.5-km-long mountain tunnel is located between Virar and Boisar bullet train stations, and is among the longest in the Palghar district.
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is currently constructing a 21-kilometre-long undersea tunnel, connecting the Mumbai Bullet Train underground station at Bandra-Kurla Complex and Shilphata in Maharashtra. It will be India’s first undersea tunnel.
When Will Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Operation Begin
The Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Thursday, said that India’s first bullet train will be ready by August 2027 and operate between Surat and Bilimorah, as service will begin in a phased manner.
The operation on the Surat-Bilimora stretch will be followed by Vapi-Surat, Vapi-Ahmedabad, Thane-Ahmedabad, and finally the entire Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.

The 508-km-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) will feature 12 stations, namely Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Billimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati.

India’s first bullet train, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, is designed to operate trains at speeds up to 320 km/h, making it India’s first high-speed rail corridor.
What Will Be Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Fare
According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the train will offer cost-effective travel as the fare structure will keep the middle class in mind. Once the high-speed train is operational, the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be reduced to 2 hours and 7 minutes.
