MMRDA Mumbai Metro Update: In an attempt to integrate Mumbai Metro Line 6 with Metro Line 3 and provide connectivity to the commuters, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has proposed a new foot over bridge (FOB), FPJ reported.
As per the proposed plan, the FOB will connect the elevated SEEPZ station of Metro Line 6 with the underground at-grade Aarey station of Metro Line 3. The proposed FOB will be 250 metre long and will cross over the Jogeshwari Vikroli Link Road (JVLR).
The estimated cost for the construction of the FOB is Rs 43.41 crore. The MMRDA has begun the process of tender allocation for the project. The authorities have given a deadline of April 28 for submission of the application by contractors.

As per the MMRDA, once selected, the contractor will have to complete the construction of the bridge within 15 months of receiving the contract.
According to the tender terms, the selected contractor will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of any defects in the bridge for up to five years after its completion.
The planned FOB will have five entry, exit points each and would be equipped with CCTV Cameras for security purposes. It will also have escalators or lifts.
It must be noted that the construction of the Metro 6 corridor, spanning 14.5 km and running between Swami Samarth Nagar and Vikroli, is currently underway. 80 per cent of the civilian work has been completed.
Meanwhile, the Metro Line 3, running from Aarey to Colaba, is being developed by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL). So far, the services are available between Aarey and BKC, while the trial runs are being conducted between Dharavi and Acharya Aatre Marg.
The MMRCL is expecting to operationalise the full route to Colaba by June this year
