In a deeply disturbing case, Mumbai Police arrested a 32-year-old woman for allegedly selling her three-month-old daughter to raise money for her husband’s bail. The woman, identified as Manisha Yadav, reportedly sold the infant in Karnataka. Along with her, eight others have been apprehended for their involvement in this horrifying crime.
According to police reports, Manisha’s husband was jailed in a theft case and had discussed the need for bail money with her during a visit to Byculla Jail while she was still pregnant. Desperate for funds, she allegedly decided to sell her newborn after giving birth.
The trail of human trafficking came into limelight after the woman’s mother-in-law, Pramila Pawar, registered a complaint with the Matunga Police claiming that her daughter-in-law, Manisha had sold her baby girl in Bengaluru.

“The mother admitted to receiving Rs 1 lakh from the sale of the infant. However, her mother-in-law discovered the transaction and immediately reported it to the police," an officer said as reported by Indian Express.
“We registered a case under Sections 143 (trafficking of person) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, and under various sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015," an official said as reported by Hindustan Times.

Suspecting a larger human trafficking racket, the police launched an investigation and traced the baby’s movements through several locations, including Ulhasnagar, Surat, Vadodara, and Karnataka. However, the child was eventually rescued, and multiple arrests were made in connection with the case.
Other arrested include Manisha Sunny Yadav, Sulochana Suresh Sable (45), who allegedly facilitated the sale, and seven others wer also identified as Mira Rajaram Yadav, Yogesh Suresh Bhoir, Roshni Sontu Ghosh, Sandhya Arjun Rajput, Madina alias Munni Imam Chavan, Tainaz Shahin Chauhan, and Moinuddin Tamboli.
