Munawar Faruqui Murder Plot: Two alleged shooters affiliated with the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang, who were reportedly assigned to assassinate stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, were apprehended following a shootout on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road in New Delhi on Thursday.
Comedian Munawar Faruqui, who rose to massive fame after winning Bigg Boss in 2024, is now facing a life-threatening situation. According to Delhi Police sources cited by NDTV, Faruqui has become a target of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang, who are reportedly seeking to kill him over his past jokes about Hindu gods. The gangster duo, believed to be orchestrating the plot from abroad, allegedly took offense to some of his comedic material.
The police managed to thwart the plan when two alleged shooters from the gang, identified as Rahul and Sahil, were arrested following a brief shootout on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road in New Delhi on Thursday. The two men are said to be residents of Panipat and Bhiwani in Haryana.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted they were in the capital specifically to assassinate Faruqui, acting on the instructions of Godara and Brar. NDTV reports that the duo had already conducted surveillance on the comedian in both Mumbai and Bengaluru. They even tried to execute an attack in Bengaluru, but the attempt failed when Faruqui unexpectedly switched cars at the last minute.
Munawar Faruqui, 33, gained widespread attention after winning the reality TV show Bigg Boss in 2024 and currently has 14.2 million Instagram followers. In 2021, he was arrested in Madhya Pradesh under hate speech laws and spent over a month in jail before receiving bail. More recently, in 2024, he was detained during a raid at an illegal hookah bar in Mumbai but was later released on bail.
