Nainital News: As the holiday season approaches, Nainital is preparing for its annual Winter Carnival, Christmas festivities, and New Year celebrations. Authorities are expecting a large influx of tourists, and preparations are in full swing to ensure smooth operations and safety. With the festivities set to attract thousands of visitors, local authorities have announced a series of traffic management measures and entry restrictions, designed to maintain order and safeguard public wellbeing.

In an effort to manage the flow of people, the police have implemented a strict policy for local residents. Only those with a valid local identification card will be allowed entry into the city during the festive period. This measure is aimed at ensuring that locals can access the town without congestion, while keeping tourist traffic under control.

According to a report from Jagran.com, a meeting was held on Friday at the Police Line auditorium, chaired by SSP Manjunath TC, with attendance from ADM Vivek Rai, SP Dr. Jagdish Chandra, SP Haldwani Manoj Kumar Katyal, SP Communication Revadhar Mathpal, Chief Fire Officer Gaurav Kirar, and other officials.

Nainital Tourist Rules: Key Changes Ahead of Holiday Season

- Narayan Nagar will be the main parking area for Nainital. A shuttle service will be available from there if the parking area reaches full capacity.

- All parking zones will be staffed, well-lit, and equipped with essential facilities.

- Shuttle services will operate from designated locations, including roadways, taxis, and KMU vehicles.

- Taxi drivers will display their contact numbers prominently on vehicles, and hotel owners will do the same at their properties.

- To improve road safety, reflectors will be placed on trees, and crash barriers will be installed from Gaddapu to Naya Gaon.

- Damaged crash barriers will be repaired, accident-prone areas will be identified, and large flexi boards will be set up at diversion points.

- Road construction work from Bhawali to Kainchi Dham will be completed quickly, and any debris will be cleared from the roads.

- Heavy goods vehicles will be banned during the day, with access restricted to 11 PM to 6 AM.

- Local residents will be permitted entry only upon presenting a valid local identification card.

- From December 22 to January 7 , traffic management at the Nainital Toll Plaza will be equally divided on both sides.

- Traffic-related instructions will be announced via loudspeakers at the Daant Tirahe toll.

- Forest watchers will conduct regular patrols in the area.

- In case of snowfall, all departments will be on alert to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity, water, food, and transport.

- The Chief Fire Officer will work with the Water Works Department to maintain hydrants and ensure that the Energy Corporation remains prepared.

- Extra security personnel will be deployed at hotels, resorts, cafés, and bars.

- The Health Department has been instructed to ensure sufficient ambulances and medical facilities are available on standby.
