Namo Bharat Train: The much-anticipated Namo Bharat Train project, which will span the route from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Bawal in Rewari, is making significant progress. In its first phase, work is underway to clear obstacles along the route, particularly near IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram, and the surrounding areas. An interchange station at IFFCO Chowk will be constructed which will serve as a key junction connecting the Gurugram, Faridabad, and Greater Noida lines.
However, the route initially faced several challenges due to the presence of essential infrastructure, including water supply and sewer lines laid by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). These lines, which run along the proposed corridor, made it difficult to construct the interchange station at IFFCO Chowk.
Following a detailed survey, Union Minister for Energy and Housing, Manohar Lal, took decisive steps to address these issues. He engaged with officials from both the GMDA and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). As a result of these discussions, GMDA agreed to provide NCRTC with a comprehensive report and a detailed map of the existing water and sewer infrastructure. This will allow NCRTC to plan for the relocation of the affected utilities and move forward with construction.

According to Jagran.com, work to relocate these vital lines will begin in January 2026. The relocation process is expected to take around one month to complete, paving the way for the construction of the interchange station.
The water lines that need to be shifted include several large capacity pipes. Notably, one of these is a 1400 mm capacity water line, which is 7 metres deep and spans 870 metres in length. Another, of the same depth, stretches 270 metres along the route, while a third, an 1800 mm capacity line, runs for 600 metres from Jharsa Chowk to Rajiv Chowk, falling within the Namo Bharat Train’s planned path. Additionally, the treated water line, which also crosses the proposed route, will be diverted to another location.

In order to ensure a smooth transition, GMDA has provided NCRTC with a clear map detailing the exact positions of the water and sewer lines, allowing for precise excavation work. All displaced utilities will be moved to areas where no future underground projects are planned, ensuring minimal disruption to future infrastructure projects.
Once the relocation work is completed, the planned interchange station at IFFCO Chowk will become a pivotal hub. Here, passengers will be able to seamlessly switch between the Namo Bharat Train, the metro system, and routes extending from Faridabad to Greater Noida.
