Narendra Modi Swearing-In LIVE News: Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India for a third consecutive term today, equalling the record of the first prime minister of the country, Jawaharlal Nehru, who held the office in 1952, 1957 and 1962. Besides PM Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and JP Nadda among others, also took oath on Sunday.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is all set to form the government at the Centre after winning the 18th Lok Sabha election, voting for which was held between April 19 and June 1 while the results were declared on June 4, 2024. The NDA won 292 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats with BJP bagging 240 seats. As the BJP stopped short of winning a clear majority, it now depends on allies JDU and TDP for forming the government.
PM Modi's oath ceremony is being attended by several leaders from the neighbouring countries, including President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu, Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay.
