Delhi Navratri food poisoning: Over 200 people fell ill after consuming Kuttu atta (buckwheat flour) during Navratri fasting in northwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday. According to police, illness was reported in several area of the northwest Delhi, including, Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh and Swaroop Nagar. Patients were found stable and no serious case was reported, the police added.

Police received calls at around 6.10 am on Tuesday at the Jahangirpuri police station about multiple people starting to fall sick, allegedly after eating food prepared with Kuttu atta (buckwheat flour) as part of the Navratri.

Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan assured a thorough investigation into the food poisoning incident that affected around 200 people in northwest Delhi after consuming buckwheat flour ('kuttu ka atta') during the ongoing Navratri fasting.

"This issue does not come directly under my ministry. Definitely, it is our responsibility if such issues come, there should be an investigation. We will not compromise on the quality of the processed foods," he said after news about the mass illness broke out.
A large number of people fell ill after consuming Kuttu (buckwheat) flour in the Jahangirpuri area. The number of patients were taken to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.
Police received information in the morning that many people were complaining of restlessness, vomiting, loose motion, and dizziness. So far, 150 to 200 patients were admitted to the emergency ward at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, said the officials. The food department was informed. The government officials began an investigation into the matter.
