Reacting to the recent confrontation between India and Pakistan, Vice Admiral AN Pramod said the Indian Navy was deployed in the Arabian Sea at full combat readiness. He said Navy's carrier battle groups, surface forces, submarines and aviation assets were deployed at sea to retaliate against Pakistan’s misadventure.
Vice Admiral Pramod said the Navy was determined to deter any provocations and key points, including Karachi, were at their target.
"We tested and refined tactics and procedures at sea during multiple weapon firings in the Arabian Sea within 96 hours of terrorist attacks. The aim was to revalidate our crew, armaments, equipment and platform readiness to deliver various ordnance on selected targets precisely," he said.
The Vice Admiral said the Navy forced Pakistani naval and air units to remain close to the coast in a defensive position.
"The forward deployment of the Indian Navy compelled Pakistani naval and air units to be in a defensive posture, mostly inside harbours or very close to the coast, which we monitored continuously,” he said.
He confirmed that the Navy still remains in a heightened state of vigilance, closely monitoring movements of Pakistani naval units while maintaining an operational edge both quantitatively and qualitatively over Pakistan’s maritime forces.
A press conference of the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy took place to provide details of the India-Pakistan engagement after a ceasefire was achieved on Saturday. In this conference, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, provided detailed information about Operation Sindoor. He was accompanied by DG Air Operations, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, and DG Naval Operations, Vice Admiral AN Pramod.
This was the first instance that senior officers from the tri-services jointly briefed on this operation.
