NEET Aspirant Death: In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Goa on Tuesday, informed the state police. The officials stated that the deceased had appeared for the NEET exam earlier on May 3, but it later got cancelled amid the leak reports. It has not been clarified whether the aspirant took his life due to the cancellation of the exam. However, as per a purported suicide note, the teenager did not want to appear in the competitive examinations.

The officials, while providing details, stated that the police rushed to the site at around 11.15 pm after being informed about the incident. He was taken to a nearby hospital by the police officials; however, the doctors declared him dead. The police stated that a case of unnatural death has been registered, adding that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter.

As per the initial probe findings, the boy locked the door of his room from inside at around 10 pm. "At night, the boy had bolted the door of his room from inside. When there was no answer despite repeated knocking, the family forced open the door and found he had died by suicide. The reason for the alleged suicide is yet to be conclusively ascertained," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Earlier on Wednesday, Abhishek Singh, the Director General of the National Testing Agency, while taking full responsibility, assured that the schedule for the re-examination would be announced within the "next seven to 10 days". The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested people linked with the leak and launched a search operation at multiple sites.

As per the FIR, certain documents related to the exam got circulated in several cities days before the exam on May 3.
