NEET UG CBI Investigation Update:  A first-year MBBS student of Rajendra Institute of Medical College (RIMS) Ranchi was arrested on Friday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the NEET-UG Patna paper leak case. Surabhi Kumari allegedly solved question papers for the complicit candidates, ANI reported, citing CBI sources. The accused has been sent to CBI custody for three days.

According to PTI, Surabhi worked for a 'solver module' with an engineer who reportedly stole the NEET-UG question papers. She was taken into custody after two days of intense questioning by the central probe agency.

1. Arrested in Bihar module of NEET-UG paper leak, Surabhi Kumari allegedly worked with an engineer, Pankaj Kumar, from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. She was allegedly present in Hazaribagh on the morning of May 5, the NEET-UG examination day, to solve the paper stolen by him. Pankaj alias Aditya allegedly stole the papers from the NTA trunk in Hazaribagh, PTI reported.

2. While the CBI has arrested 16 people regarding the case, many more arrests are expected as new details emerge about the NEET-UG Paper leak. RIMS Ranchi, a premier medical institute, was approached by the CBI earlier this week for questioning.

3. "The CBI team contacted the hospital management on Wednesday, saying they wanted to question her in connection with the NEET paper leak. The management extended full cooperation to the team. On Thursday too, they grilled her and said she will be questioned further," RIMS PRO Rajiv Ranjan said on Friday.

4. Earlier on Thursday, four MBBS students at AIIMS Patna were arrested by CBI in relation to the case. They allegedly worked as the 'solver gang' and solved the NEET-UG 2024 paper ahead of the examination so that an answer key could be provided to the complicit students.

5. The central investigative agency probing the suspected misconduct in the medical entrance examination has filed six FIRs. The FIR from Bihar relates to a paper leak, while the others from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra involve candidate impersonation and cheating.
