NEET-UG 2024 Re-Exam: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance (NEET-UG) re-exam for 1,563 candidates is scheduled to be held today (June 23) after the National Testing Agency (NTA) withdrew the grace marks awarded to the candidates to make up for the loss of time. The medical exam retest will be held at seven centres across the country. This came after six students scored perfect 720 marks along with 61 others leading to allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 Exam Result.
"All other examination centres have changed; one centre in Chandigarh, where only two candidates will appear, will remain the same,” an NTA official was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, officials from the NTA and Union Education Ministry will also be present at the examination centres. The step was taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the exam, news agency PTI reported citing an official.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday dismissed claims of cancellation of NEET for the time being, saying it could jeopardize the careers of lakhs of students who passed the exam correctly because of isolated incidences of malpractices.

- In a significant development, the Ministry of Education on Saturday entrusted the matter of alleged irregularities in the NEET (UG) Examination 2024 to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe into the alleged irregularities.
- “For transparency on the conduct of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, after a review has decided to entrust the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for comprehensive investigation. Central Government has also enacted the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, to prevent unfair means in public examinations and to provide for matter connected therewith or incidental thereto," the government said.
- The government’s decision came amid nationwide outrage over alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-Undergraduate) exams, flagging serious concerns over the integrity of the NEET-UG 2024 examination process.
- In a significant turn of events, the Centre on Saturday also announced the postponement of the NEET-PG examination, drawing massive outrage among the students. The exam was cancelled hours before it was scheduled to be held on June 23, amid the recent allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations. The Union Health Ministery said that the fresh date will be notified at the earliest.
