In response to the tragic stampede incident at New Delhi Railway Station, the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday transferred Sukhwinder Singh, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Northern Railway, Delhi. Singh has been replaced by Pushpesh R Tripathi. Nothing has been shared about Singh’s new posting in the orders. 

Additionally, Mahesh Yadav, the station director, and Anand Mohan, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), have also been transferred. Official orders in this regard have been issued by the Northern Railway.

“The Ministry of Railways has decided, with the approval of the President, that Pushpesh R. Tripathi, NFHAG (Non-Functional Higher Administrative Grade)/IRSEE (Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers)/North Central Railway, should be transferred and posted to the position of DRM/Delhi/Northern Railway in place of Sukhwinder Singh, IRSEE. The orders for this will be issued later,” the notification said. 

As many as 18 persons were killed and over 15 were left injured in a stampede that occurred at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15. The Railways stated that the railway administration has formed a two-member committee to ascertain the causes of the mishap.

The railway authorities had announced a high-level inquiry on the same night. The inquiry committee includes Nar Singh Dev, Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Northern Railway, and Pankaj Gangwar, Principal Chief Security Commissioner. The railway administration has stated that the committee is collecting personal statements from over 100 people. After all the statements are recorded and a thorough investigation is conducted, the committee will present its report.
