Bypoll Election Results LIVE: The counting of votes polled in bypolls to five Assembly seats across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, as well as one Lok Sabha seat in Assam, will begin at 8:00 AM on Friday.
In Tamil Nadu's Madurantakam and Dharapuram, polling was held on October 6. Postal ballots will be counted first, followed by votes recorded through EVMs. The Returning Officer will declare the final result after the counting is completed and the results are certified.
These bypolls are being held after the TVK came to power in May and are viewed as a test of its popularity, while the opposition AIADMK hopes to regain the seats it lost to the TVK in the April Assembly elections.
Counting of votes will also be carried out for Puducherry's Thattanchavady Assembly segment and Assam's Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency.
In West Bengal, a voter turnout of 79.39 per cent was recorded in Nandigram and 78.42 per cent in Rejinagar during the bypolls. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the BJP could register a record victory in Nandigram and expressed confidence about a BJP victory in Rejinagar as well.
