Delhi: Mastermind Among 3 Held Over Anti-BRICS Graffiti Ahead Of Summit, Foreign Funding Under Probe

BRICS 2026: Three people have been arrested by the Outer North district police in connection with alleged slogans supporting the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) being written on walls in Delhi ahead of the BRICS Summit.

Mastermind Was In Contact With Foreign Handler

According to the police, one of those arrested is the alleged mastermind, who was in contact with a foreign-based handler and was allegedly receiving funds from abroad to carry out SFJ activities in India. Police said he was receiving foreign funding and was involved in running SFJ activities in India. The accused are now being questioned to find out the role of others linked to the activity.

Slogans Written Ahead Of BRICS Summit

The case is linked to FIR No. 206/26 registered at the Special Cell police station. Security agencies were already on alert ahead of the BRICS Summit. During this period, information was received about anti-summit and objectionable slogans being written on walls at different locations in Delhi. Police then began an investigation and arrested three suspects after identifying them.

Police Investigate Foreign Funding

Currently, police are investigating the involvement of other individuals in the alleged conspiracy to have the slogans written on the walls. They are also examining the money sent from abroad and the accused persons’ contact with the foreign-based handler. According to the police, more arrests may follow in the case.

BRICS Summit

The 18th BRICS Summit begins today at Bharat Mandapam, with leaders from member and partner countries gathering in the national capital for the two-day event. New Delhi is hosting the Summit on September 12 and 13 under India’s 2026 BRICS chairship.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian Russian President Vladimir Putin, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto are among the leaders taking part. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will also attend. Brazil and Saudi Arabia will be represented by senior ministers.
