The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to launch a toll tax indicator feature on its official Rajmargyatra App, which will inform tourists about the route with the lowest toll tax between two cities. The information about the new feature was shared by a senior NHAI official, and the users will be able to use the feature soon, reducing their toll costs on national highways.

The new feature will include details about the toll tax applicable on different routes between two locations. It is designed to highlight the route that would attract the lowest toll tax. Apart from this feature, the app also provides information about national highway routes and the facilities provided on the routes.

Amrit Singh, Chief Product Officer, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) of Indian Highways Management Company (IHMCL) said while citing an example, “There are three routes to travel to Lucknow from Delhi and the app will help commuter choose the best one.

“You can travel to Lucknow from Delhi via Yamuna Expressway, or travel by crossing Ghaziabad-Aligarh-Kanpur-Lucknow or Moradabad-Bareilly-Sitapur-Lucknow...The app will inform motorists about the route which will attract the least amount of toll between Delhi and Lucknow,” he said.

Earlier, the NHAI rolled out a FASTag annual pass for Rs 3,000, which remains valid for a year and allows 200 toll-free trips in a year. The new FASTag rule will be implemented from August 15. If you complete 200 toll-free journeys before the pass expires, you will have to recharge your FASTag again. This pass is only valid at toll plazas authorised by NHAI and won’t be applicable at state government toll plazas.
