Jewar Airport Flight Delay: The launch of air services from Noida International Airport has encountered another hurdle. The Home Ministry has rejected the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security's proposal. By changing the security rules, a request was made to approve a foreign citizen for the post of CEO for the green field airport.

This decision by the Home Ministry will delay the airport security program's approval by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Consequently, the resumption of flights will inevitably be disrupted.

Christoph Schnellmann Is A Swiss Citizen

It has become necessary to appoint an Indian citizen as CEO of Yamuna International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (YIAPL), the company that operates Noida International Airport. Currently, Christoph Schnellmann, a Swiss citizen, holds the position of CEO.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Noida International Airport on March 28. Since then, it has been expected that flight services from the airport would begin within one to one and a half months.

Almost a month after the inauguration, the airport security program has not yet been approved by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Appointment Of Indian Citizen As CEO Is Mandatory

On YIAPL's proposal, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security had sent a proposal to the Home Ministry requesting approval for the appointment of a foreign national to the post of CEO for the green field airport.

In another news, days after the inauguration of Noida International Airport, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) launched its Residential Plot Scheme 2026. The scheme is offering a total of 973 residential plots in the rapidly developing Yamuna region.

Under its residential plot scheme, the YEIDA is offering 973 housing plots in Sectors 15C and 18 on the eastern side of the Yamuna Expressway, and in Sector 24A on the western side, all to the north of the airport, and all approved by UPRERA.

The plot sizes are as follows:

- 162 sqm (476 plots)
- 183 sqm (4 plots)
- 184 sqm (4 plots)
- 200 sqm (481 plots)
- 223 sqm (6 plots)
- 290 sqm (2 plots)

The YEIDA has fixed the land rate at Rs 36,260 per square metre, and allotment will be done through a draw system.
