Noida International Airport: In a major update for the flight passengers, the domestic flights from the Noida International Airport in Jewar will begin operation from June 15. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while interacting with media at Lok Bhawan on Friday, informed that the airport will be opened for passengers from June 15. As per the reports, IndiGo and Akasa Air will begin operations to several prominent cities, including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Amritsar, and Navi Mumbai.
The airport, ahead of beginning operation, has completed a full-scale trial with IndiGo Airlines, Jagran reported, citing sources. The trial tested all procedures from landing to takeoff, including the passenger bridge, automated docking system, cargo handling, and refueling. Along with this, the instrument landing system (ILS) was also revalidated for safe landings even in weather conditions.
As per the reports, IndiGo will operate the first flight from Noida International Airport, marking the beginning of regular passenger services. Apart from this, Akasa Air and Air India Express will also begin services in the upcoming weeks. The authority has shared detailed information on flight times, destinations, and passenger amenities.
The airport is located along the Yamuna Expressway and will also offer dedicated taxi services, cab partners, and e-buses. The newly made airport has a 3,900-meter-long runway and a massive multi-level terminal (1,37,000 square meters). It is also being developed as a major multimodal cargo hub, potentially reducing the burden on Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) was established to develop, build, and operate the greenfield project Noida International Airport. The firm is a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, known for executing prominent projects. The airport has one runway and one passenger terminal, with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers.
