Noida International Airport's first phase is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, providing a boost to connectivity. The officials stated that the flight operations are likely to begin a few weeks after the formal launch. They further advised the flyers to stay updated, adding that direct flight services will be available for several key cities. The airport will provide an additional option to the passengers of the northern states, reducing pressure from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

Noida Airport To Connect These Cities

While there has been no announcement regarding the routes, the airport is likely to connect Noida with the other metro cities of the countries. The services are likely to begin for several cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Goa, and Jaipur, reported NDTV, citing sources. The reports also indicate that booking for the flight services is likely to begin 2 to 4 weeks before flight operations begin.

The reports also suggest that three major airlines, IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express, are likely to begin their services in the initial weeks, operating for both domestic and international routes. IGI Airport currently serves as the only major airport in Delhi-NCR and serves as the entry point for the travellers to the northern states.

However, demands were raised for a second airport in the region after the passengers faced inconveniences due to the growing numbers. Apart from this, several major regions of Delhi witnessed heavy congestion, especially at the peak hours, due to the rush around the airport. The Noida airport is likely to solve this problem, providing major relief to the daily commuters.

The airport is located along the Yamuna Expressway, linking it to several regions, including western Uttar Pradesh, parts of Haryana, and Delhi.
