Noida Metro Skywalk: Commuters in the Delhi-NCR region are set to get a major relief as the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Tuesday announced that the 420-metre air-conditioned skywalk connecting the Delhi Metro Blue Line (Sector 52) and the Noida Metro Aqua Line (Sector 51) is expected to open on February 1, 2026.

The metro skywalk will offer a faster, more convenient, and cost-effective travel option for the thousands of passengers who navigate this route daily.

Noida AC Metro Skywalk Takes Shape, Set To Open On February 1

- The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is set to inaugurate the much-awaited, L-shaped, air-conditioned skywalk linking the Delhi Metro Blue Line’s Sector 52 station with the Noida Metro Aqua Line’s Sector 51 station on February 1, 2026, with electrical works in the final stages, Times of India reported.

Speaking to The Times of India, an NMRC official said, "The project is almost complete, and we are hopeful of inaugurating it on Feb 1."

Key Details About Noida Metro Skywalk

- The 420-metre-long and 5-metre-wide skywalk, equipped with high-speed travelators and elevators, is designed to seamlessly integrate the two networks, eliminating the need for separate ticketing during inter-line transfers.

- In the absence of a skywalk, commuters are forced to exit one station, walk through a narrow, congested footpath frequently obstructed by vendors and parked rickshaws to re-enter the other station.

- A temporary tin-shed covered walkway that earlier connected both the stations was dismantled to facilitate the construction of a modern skywalk, forcing commuters to navigate the busy stretch on foot.

- Construction of the skywalk began in March 2023. Though the skywalk was slated for completion within a year, it faced repeated delays due to GRAP-related work suspensions during high-pollution winter months and crucial design modifications.

Speaking to TOI, officials stated that the new skywalk between the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line and the Noida Metro’s Aqua Line is set to transform the commuter experience by offering a faster, more convenient, and cost-effective travel option. This is also expected to encourage more people to utilise the metro network for their daily commutes.
