Noida News: After a two-day inspection drive across 23 gaming zones in Noida and Greater Noida, the fire department has asked five of them to shut down as they were running without mandatory approvals from the various government departments, officials said on Thursday. Authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar initiated a fire safety inspection campaign at gaming zones in the district on Monday, a day after a massive blaze at a gaming zone in Gujarat’s Rajkot claimed 28 lives. The incident left the victims' bodies burned beyond recognition and prompted significant public outcry.
The campaign aimed to ensure the enforcement of fire safety measures. The police commissioner assembled a team comprising personnel from fire, electricity, entertainment, and the GST (goods and services tax) departments to scrutinize gaming zones in the twin cities to verify the validity of their licenses and permissions, stated Chief Fire Officer (Gautam Budh Nagar district) Pradeep Kumar Chaubey.

"Five gaming zones were found running without permissions, two are located at Gaur City Mall in Greater Noida West, one at Spectrum Mall in Sector 75, one at Sector 104 and one at Sector 41. All of the five were operating without required permissions from the entertainment department of the District Administration while two were operating without Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC)," the officer informed.

The officer further informed that gaming zones functioning inside the mall did have the fire NOC, while the others did not.
"All of them have been served notice to shut operations until they get required permissions from all the concerned departments. If they are found running still, FIR will be registered against them for violating government orders," Chaubey added.
