Railway News: The unknown miscreants on Wednesday pelted stones at Vande Bharat Express in Odisha's Chakradharpur Railway Division, massively damaging one of the windows and creating panic among the passengers. The railway informed that the Train number 20835 from Rourkela to Puri was attacked around 2.20 pm when the train had just covered a distance of ten kilometers. While there are no reports of any serious injury to passengers, the incident led to chaos.
While providing details, the authority stated that the incident took place between the Panposh and Kalunga railway stations of the Rourkela railway section. It further stated that the stone pelting had broken the window in coach number C3 near seat numbers 40, 41, and 42. The railway had earlier stated that several similar cases have been reported in Chakradharpur Railway Division in the past few months, further stating that strict actions will be taken against the miscreants.

It added that similar incidents have been reported in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal in the past few months. The authority stated that a probe has been ordered into the matter and strict actions will be taken against the miscreants.
Earlier in September 2024, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the railway is in contact with the state authorities and strict action will be taken against the people involved in such activities. “The entire railway staff constantly communicates with state authorities, including DGPs and Home Secretaries. Strict action will be taken against anyone involved in these incidents,” Vaishnaw stated.
