Odisha Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed today, May 14, that there will be a slight change in the maximum temperature for the next 6 to 7 days over several districts in Odisha. The highest temperature will likely be around 40 degrees Celsius or above in Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Angul.
In the coming days, the IMD has also issued orange and yellow warnings for thunderstorm activity in several regions of Odisha.
The districts of Nabarangapur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam are likely to have thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds of 50–60 kmph in the afternoon or evening on May 15.
There is a high probability of a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface winds of 40–50 kmph occurring in one or two locations during the afternoon and evening hours across the districts of Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Puri. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.
On May 16, there is a high probability of a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30 to 40 kmph in one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Angul, and Dhenkanal.
Hot and humid weather are probable in one or two locations in the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati on May 17.
