Odisha Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rain, lightning and thunderstorms for multiple Odisha districts over the next four days, till May 23. The weather body has put 15 Odisha districts on a yellow alert for lightning on Monday. The districts include - Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balangir, and Nuapada. These areas are expected to see rain activity accompanied by lightning, according to IMD.
IMD has put nine districts on a yellow alert for lightning on May 20. The same alert will be extended to 16 districts on May 21. As per IMD forecast, winds will blow at speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph in these areas during the mentioned time period.

May 20: Light to moderate rain or Thundershower very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangapur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhargarh, Mayurbhanj and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
May 21: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
May 22: Light to moderate rain or Thundershower very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
May 23: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha,Gajapati and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
May 24: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha , Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
May 25: Light to moderate rain or thundershowers very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha , Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
IMD has issued an orange alert for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning to occur in afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati on May 20. Meanwhile, 14 districts were placed under a yellow alert for the same day. The current weather activity was attributed to Kalbaisakhi conditions.
Bhubaneswar continued to experience high humidity. Hot and humid conditions were forecast for districts like Gajapati, Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur until Monday.
