The Indian forces, in a joint operation on July 28, 2025, eliminated the three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 tourists were brutally killed. While providing information in the Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the operation was carried out jointly by the Army, the CRPF, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He further stated that the terrorists were killed in the forested Lidwas area near Harwan before they could flee to Pakistan.
Shah, while providing details to the fellow parliamentarians, stated that the three terrorists killed in the operation were identified as Suleman, Hamza Afghani (Afghan), and Zibran. "Yesterday, the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police neutralised three terrorists—Suleiman, Afghan, and Jibran. Suleiman was a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, responsible for the Pahalgam and Gagangir terror attacks. Multiple pieces of evidence support his involvement," Shah stated.
"The people who used to supply food to them were detained earlier. Once the bodies of these terrorists were brought to Srinagar, they were identified by those who were kept detained by our agencies," the home minister added. Shah further stated that a high-level meeting was held after the Pahalgam attack, adding that the forces decided that the terrorists should not be allowed to flee India.
"Our officers and jawans of IB, Army and CRPF kept moving on foot in the cold and high altitudes to receive their signals," Shah asserted. As per the press release by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) received inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the Dachigam region through human intelligence on May 22, 2025.
The home minister asserted that the locals who provided shelter and other assistance to the terrorists were arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) shortly after the terror attack. The arrested individuals identified the dead bodies of the terrorists, confirming their elimination.
