Jammu Kashmir News: The Border Security Force (BSF) said on Thursday evening that unprovoked firing was started by Pakistan Rangers on BSF posts in Jammu's Arnia area, which was befittingly retaliated by the troops. According to the BSF, the firing took place around 8 p.m., and it was underway at the time when the report was being written. “Tonight at about 2000 hrs unprovoked firing started by Pak Rangers on BSF posts in Arnia area which is befittingly retaliated by BSF troops. The firing is still on,” the BSF said in a statement.

In the past two years, Pakistan has breached ceasefire over a dozen times. The troops have fired upon Indian soldiers and border posts several times since February 2021. Notably, the two countries agreed to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement, people in the security establishment said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Last month, two BSF troopers were injured following a firing by Pakistan rangers on the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir. "Yesterday the Pak Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing towards BSF troops which was befittingly retaliated by alert BSF troops in the Arnia Sector. Two BSF personnel received bullet injuries and have been immediately provided medical assistance," said an official, as quoted by ANI.

In another incident, BSF had also apprehended a Pakistani national who crossed the international border and entered Indian territory inadvertently in Punjab's Tarn Taran district.
