In the latest development amid the rising heat between India and Pakistan, a Pakistani national was apprehended by the security forces on Tuesday near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch.

The arrest comes a day after the Border Security Force arrested a Pakistan Rangers personnel from the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. The arrest of a Pakistani soldier came after he crossed the border into India.

These developments come in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which has strained the already sour relations between the two countries.

On April 22, terrorists associated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) opened indiscriminate firing on the tourists in Baisaran valley of Pahalgam.

As many as 26 civilians, including a Nepali citizen, lost their lives to the heinous act. The security forces initiated a hunt for the terrorists, which continues even after 13 days. It is believed that the terrorists have been hiding in the forests in up to 40 km raidus from the attack site.

The terrorists were identified by the forces and actions were initiated against them. Meanwhile, the government also resorted to diplomatic actions against Pakistan. India suspended the Indus Water Treaty leading to a suspension of all bilateral agreements by Pakistan. The retaliatory actions led to an escalatory spiral with Pakistan and India both closing their airspace for each other, scrapping all trade.

India has also barred Pakistani-flagged ships to access Indian waters or use Indian ports.
