In a widespread crackdown on vehicle owner violating traffic rules and creative public nuisance, the local police have slapped a bike owner with a fine of Rs 32,500 on Wednesday, the Hindustan Times reported. The police in Kalka took action against a noisy Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle, impounding it in the main market after receiving complaints about its loud, firecracker-like sounds.

According to Sub-Inspector Narendra Kumar, the motorcycle's rider was found driving without a silencer and creating excessive noise, prompting the authorities to take swift action.

Another rider was fined ₹10,500 for similar traffic infractions. These measures were taken following multiple complaints from local residents and on the directives of Panchkula Commissioner of Police, Rakesh Kumar Arya, the report added.

According to the report, the police commissioner emphasised that such actions against lawbreakers will continue, urging citizens to adhere to traffic rules and contribute to maintaining peace and security in the city. "We will not tolerate any disregard for traffic regulations," he said. "Citizens' cooperation is crucial in keeping our city safe and orderly."

The crackdown serves as a strict reminder to motorcycle riders to ensure their vehicles comply with noise regulations and traffic laws.

Traffic Rules Regarding Noisy Exhausts In Bikes

In India, the legal exhaust noise limit for vehicles is generally 80 decibels for motorcycles and potentially 90 decibels for cars. Exceeding these limits can result in penalties and fines. Modified exhausts that create noise beyond permissible levels, including above 100 decibels, are illegal and can lead to challans.
