Pannun-Trudeau Ties: Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has revealed that his outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has been in touch with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office for the past couple of years sharing information against India in the wake of his aide Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing in Canada. The revelation came during Pannun's interview with Canadian public broadcaster CBC News.
He claimed that he passed on to Trudeau's office information "detailing the spying network" of the Indian High Commission in Ottawa. "Sikh for Justice has been communicating with the Prime Minister's office for the last two to three years," Pannun said told CBC News.
On Monday, India expelled six Canadian diplomats hours after it summoned Canada's Charge d'Affaires Stewart Wheeler. At the same time, New Delhi withdrew its envoy to Canada along with other officials and diplomats who Ottawa named as 'persons of interest' in a matter related to an investigation in the country.
India said the "baseless targeting" of its envoy and other diplomats and officials in Canada was completely unacceptable. India-Canada ties have been fraught since last year, when Trudeau said he had "credible evidence" linking Indian agents to Nijjar's killing. India has repeatedly denied the allegation. On Monday, India dismissed Canada's move on the inquiry and accused Trudeau of pursuing a "political agenda".
