Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Petrol prices across India have surged at a high rate, signifying pressure on household budgets and daily expenses. Private fuel retailer Nayara Energy has raised petrol prices by more than Rs 5 per litre, pushing rates above Rs 100 in several major cities.

The sudden rise in prices has triggered panic buying in multiple states, with long queues reported outside petrol pumps. Even though the government has assured that there is no fuel shortage, concerns continue to emerge due to global supply disruptions linked to rising tensions in West Asia.

Why Did The Price Increase?

Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: The recent rise in oil prices comes amid global energy market uncertainty. Ongoing tensions involving Iran and the US have disrupted crude oil supply routes, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical channel for global oil shipments.

As oil supply concerns increased, fuel retailers adjusted prices to reflect surging international crude costs. Nayara Energy, one of India’s largest private fuel retailers, implemented the hike, increasing petrol prices by over Rs 5 per litre.

Experts claim that fluctuations in crude oil prices, combined with logistical challenges and taxation, continue to influence fuel rates in India.
