PM Modi Constitution Video: Three days after the BJP-led NDA crossed the magic mark of majority in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, a meeting of all the newly elected MPs of the coalition took place on Friday at the Samvidhan Sadan in the Parliament of India. While the NDA MPs unanimously chose Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the leader of the alliance, they welcomed him with chants of "Modi-Modi" as he entered the halls.
After entering, PM Modi paid his respects to the Constitution of India by touching it to his forehead. The act by Prime Minister Modi was lauded by the coalition members and MPs alike with claps, however, the Congress party took a dig at him for his gesture. Calling PM Modi, one-third of Prime Minister, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh called the gesture, a "hypocrisy" by him.
"There is no limit to the hypocrisy of a third Prime Minister. Today he has touched the Constitution to his forehead - the same Constitution which he has continuously ignored for 10 years and which he was demanding 400 seats to carry out the decades-long conspiracy of RSS-BJP to destroy. My statement on this," Ramesh said in a video message on microblogging website X.

Earlier today, the Bharatiya Janata Party and all the alliance members of NDA, including JDU and TDP, unanimously elected PM Modi to be the leader of the coalition.
BJP MP Rajnath Singh proposed the name of PM Narendra Modi as the leader of the NDA's parliamentary party, setting the stage for him to become the Prime Minister for a third time.
“I want to congratulate all the newly elected MPs...Today, we are here to elect the leader of the NDA. I believe that PM Narendra Modi's name is the most suitable for all these posts,” Singh said.
