PM Modi Assam Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam on Friday, where he flagged off three new trains aimed at boosting connectivity in Northeast India. The newly introduced services include the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, which will provide direct rail connectivity between the Northeast and southern India, the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, which is expected to strengthen rail links between Assam and West Bengal, and the Narangi-Agartala Express, which will improve travel between Assam and Tripura.
Officials stated that the launch of new trains will make inter-state journeys more convenient for passengers, traders, and tourists, while also boosting economic activity and tourism across the region.
Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express: Check Details
The Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will strengthen connectivity between the Northeast and North Bengal, offering faster and more comfortable journeys for students, business travellers and tourists.
- Route: The semi-high-speed train will connect Guwahati in Assam and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
- Stoppages: During the journey, the train will stop at key stations, including Kamakhya, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Gossaigaon Hat, New Alipurduar and New Coochbehar.
Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express: Check Route, Stops
The Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express is a modern train that uses push-pull technology. The train is expected to benefit a large number of students and professionals from the Northeast who live and work in South India by offering faster and more convenient travel at affordable fares.
- Route: The train will connect Kamakhya in Guwahati to Charlapalli near Hyderabad in Telangana.
- Stoppages: It will stop at key stations, such as New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Kharagpur, Bhubaneswar and Vijayawada.
Narangi-Agartala Express: Check Details
The Narangi-Agartala Express has been introduced to strengthen rail connectivity in Northeast India by providing a direct link between Narangi and Agartala. It is expected to ease travel through the hilly Dima Hasao region and support the movement of both passengers and traders between Tripura and other parts of the country.
- Route: The train will run between Narangi in Assam and Agartala in Tripura.
- Stoppages: The train passes through key stations, including Guwahati, Lumding, Badarpur and Ambassa.
