Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed optimism about a regime change in Kerala. Drawing parallels with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) early journey in Gujarat, PM Modi recalled how the party’s rise began with a single city, when it won the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in 1987. He stated that a similar transformation has now started in Kerala with the BJP’s historic win in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation elections.

"Your energy gives us the confidence that now there will indeed be a change in Kerala...Before 1987, BJP was a party at the periphery in Gujarat. In 1987, for the first time, the BJP won Amdavad Municipal Corporation, just like you won in Thiruvananthapuram today. From there, the series, which began in Gujarat - people saw our work, assessed our conduct and as a result, people there have been giving us opportunities for the past several decades. It all began with one city. In Kerala, too, it has begun with one city,” PM Modi said while addressing a gathering in Thiruvanathapuram.

PM Modi Highlights Neglect Of Thiruvananthapuram

Taking aim at the Opposition, PM Modi said, "For decades, both the LDF and UDF have neglected Thiruvananthapuram, depriving the city of basic amenities and infrastructure. The Left and Congress have consistently failed to meet the needs of our people. However, our BJP team has already begun working towards a developed Thiruvananthapuram."

PM Modi Targets LDF And UDF

PM Modi said the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections will determine the state's future, accusing the LDF and UDF of corruption and misgovernance and presenting the BJP-NDA as the third alternative for development and good governance.

"The upcoming elections will be the ones to change the condition and direction of Kerala. When it comes to the future of Kerala, you have seen just two sides so far. On one side, there is LDF, and on the other side, there is UDF. Both of these have destroyed Kerala one after the other. But there is a third side too, that side is of development, of good governance, of the BJP-NDA. People of LDF and UDF have pushed Kerala into corruption, misgovernance and dangerous politics of appeasement," he said.

PM Modi added that decades of corruption and misgovernance by the LDF and UDF have held back Thiruvananthapuram, promising that under the BJP's vision of 'Viksit Thiruvananthapuram', the city will be transformed into a model city for the country.

"For decades, LDF and UDF have done gross injustice to Thiruvananthapuram. Left and Congress's corruption has pulled back Thiruvananthapuram even in terms of basic facilities. But now this will not happen. BJP team here has started working on the vision of Viksit Thiruvananthapuram," PM Modi remarked.
