Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi, while reacting to the fresh trade deal between India and the US, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has compromised India's interests. He stated that the deal will benefit the US and will put pressure on the Indian manufacturing and agriculture sector. While speaking to the reporters at the parliament after walking out of the Lok Sabha, Gandhi alleged that the prime minister has "sold the country".
The Congress leader stated that PM Modi has sold the hard work of the Indians because he was "compromised" while signing the deal. “Narendra Modi ji has sold your hard work in this trade deal because he is compromised. He has sold the country,” Gandhi asserted.
Row Over Gen Naravane's Book
A fresh row erupted in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after Rahul Gandhi insisted on speaking on the unpublished book of the former Army chief MM Naravane. The leader of the opposition asserted that the issue of India-China relations is very critical and hence must be discussed in the house. “If I cannot quote from this magazine article, then I can at least describe what he (Gen Naravane) said,” the Congress leader stated.
However, Krishna Prasad Tenneti, who was in the chair in the absence of Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, clarified that the issue was settled on Monday. “No, you cannot. This issue is already settled,” Tenneti stated. Apart from this, the members of both the alliances got involved in a verbal spat after Congress MP KC Venugopal addressed the chair as "yaar".
“This is a Parliament! What is this (word) ‘yaar’?” Tenneti pointed out. However, MP Manish Tewari asked what exactly was wrong with the word ‘yaar’, adding that the argument over the word has wasted time. “What is the problem with the word ‘yaar’?” he asked.
